Historical Experience & Applications
Lessons from decades of helping organizations manage documents, and why understanding the workflow comes first.
The history of Imaging Made Simple reaches back to 1994, when the business began developing document management solutions for organizations with real-world information challenges.
Over the years, IMS has been shaped by the experience of helping organizations understand, organize, and retrieve their documents.
Built around real office needs
IMS development was influenced by firsthand experience working with organizations, understanding their filing procedures, and identifying practical improvements. Rather than imposing a rigid structure, the software was designed around configurable document profiles and an approachable interface, so each organization could organize information in a way that matched how it actually worked.
Experience across different environments
That experience spans government, education, commercial offices, and other organizational settings. We describe this history in general terms here rather than naming customers or implying current relationships or endorsements. The point is not a list of logos, but the practical lesson: different environments manage documents differently, and a flexible system serves them better than a one-size-fits-all approach.
What we learned
Offices do not all manage documents the same way.
- Some want to retain paper; others want to reduce it.
- Some begin with a single workstation; others need more sophisticated organization and access.
- Some need only basic retrieval; others require record-level security, audit reporting, and administrative control.
The important lesson is to understand the customer's workflow before recommending how documents should be organized. The technology should fit the office, not the other way around.
Our only limitation is your imagination.
